Virtual Assistants: Hire a Virtual Assistant in China?

Virtual Assistants and Outsourcing in China

At this very moment you are probably using something and wearing something that was made in China - perhaps your shoes, a shirt, or your iPod. Manafacturing outsourcing in China has been going on for decades.

But what about hiring a virtual assistant in China? Perhaps you need someone to create an excel spreadsheet, powerpoint presentation or website for you? Perhaps you wonder if you too can manufacture a product in China?

To that end, let’s take a brief stroll into China outsourcing for small businesses.

I will admit that at this point, I have yet to hire a virtual assistant (VA) in China. I have a VA in India, another in Bangledesh, and a programmer in the Ukraine. But my reach has not extended to China just yet.

Benefits of a hiring Virtual Assistant in China?

Like India, China has an abundance of low-cost and highly motivated employees. China, itself, is growing country, so hiring a VA there might help you to learn more about the business opportunities in China. If you are considering setting-up shop in China, land, rents and equipment are much cheaper than in Western countries.

China has been investing in Internet and communications technology for many years, so there does not appear to be any deficits in that area.

But what about the skill-set and language? That is the question that concerns me the most. Would a Chinese Virtual Assistant be able to use Excel proficiently? Would their English skills be sufficient to understand me?

Several Chinese Companies that I looked into claim that all of their VA’s have 4-year bachelor degrees. They also listed software programs that they are proficient in, including all the most common Microsoft products and other software that you would expect.

So, is it time to hire a Chinese virtual assistant? I think it is worth exploring. I am going to look for an opportunity to hire one for my next project, and I will report back to you on how it worked out.
