Overture and WordTracker keyword tools: What’s the difference?
During the Santa Fe Bootcamp, Bill and I (Ryan) demonstrated how to use both Overture and Wordtacker to find “niche” keywords. A question arose: How do the two tools differ?
In brief, Overture’s search engine gives you data for an entire month. So the numbers that it give you are higher than what you see on Wordtracker. Overture is also easier and quicker to use. Wordtracker is slightly more complicated but gives you many more tools and statistics for analysis.
So which do you use? I use both services depending on my needs. If I want to simply optimize a blog post and find some good keywords I will go to Overture. If I am launching a new product or website, I will go to both Overture and Wordtracker and compare the results from both, so that I can get the most information possible.
How do I use the data and what am I looking for? That’s a question for another post. For now, get some experience with both services and see what you come up with.
