The first Web Whisperers Boot Camp is over

Ryan and I just finished the first Web Whisperers Boot Camp in Santa Fe this past Tuesday. It was exhausting and exhilarating. A bit chaotic, since it was the first one and many participants were at vastly different skill levels (several had just bought news Macs and were using Mac for the first time, under my influence).

Anyway, I think all came away with many new skills, some new products/results and a good sense of the many possibilities available in this new media/web-based world.

Ryan and Michael Beale are planning another Boot Camp for London in August and Ryan and I plan another one in Santa Fe in January 2008 (as soon as I nail down a hotel space).

Many things came out of the experience (watch this space for more about that in the future), but one thing is that most of us could benefit from learning how to use our computers better. Over the past year, I have stumbled on some sites and podcasts that offer “screencasts” (videos of computer screens that show you how to work some program or accomplish some task).

One that I would recommend for Mac or Windows users is a free podcast from Lynda.com. You can subscribe or sample it through iTunes. if you like it, you may want to subscribe to full access to all their online training for $25/month (http://www.lynda.com). I did for many months and learned a lot.
