A Web Whisperer’s new love: Constant Contact

One of the strategies that Bill and I are going to teach at the Santa Fe Bootcamp is how to market products and services by building “free-on-free” email marketing lists.

The strategy, like many that we teach at our bootcamps, can be enacted using services that give free trials. This gives you an opportunity to use the technology, learn the technology, and benefit from the technology without spending a dime. In fact, the service that I am going to tell you about, earned me $1200 in the first 30 days - while I was still using the free trial!
The service is Constant Contact and you can use it to create “opt-in” forms to collect people’s email addresses. Then, you type newsletters to send your list of subscribers. How does this work and how will it be valuable to you?

First, let’s talk about how it works. Constant Contact has simplified and automated the tasks you will need to build your email list. You don’t have to be a programmer to use their service. At the click of a button you generate a form that you simply cut-and-paste into your website or blog. This form lets people sign up for your email newsletter. Next, you type your newsletter into an online text-editor (similar to Microsoft Word) and Constant Contact generates the newsletter automatically. Send it to your list by clicking another button.

How is it valuable? Many people use Constant Contact to send people information about their workshops, seminars and other products, creating a steady referrals. But why in the world would people give you their email to send them sales messages?

They sign up because you give them high-value free products. To build my lists I create high-quality free bonuses to induce people to sign-up (Bill calls them “ethical bribes”). I write short ebooks on topics that are relevant to the people who read my websites. If they want to know about Search Engine Optimization. I teach them about Search Engine Optmization. If they want to know about blogs, I teach them about blogs.

Then what? As my email list grows, more and more people know about me and my services. Each time I send out a newsletter, several people contact me requesting information. In fact, I make it easy for them to contact me about my services. In each bonus and newsletter, I include email or text, similar to what you see below (from my Search Engine Optimization guide):

10) Hire me or another expert to do this for you.
You can do most or all of these strategies on your own. But perhaps you do not have the time or you want to make 100% sure that you have the top keywords for your industry. I can do the “leg-work” for you, find the keywords, and do the website programming as well. Send me an email to begin the conversation: ryan@ryannagy.com. We can talk about your needs, and I will look at your website and give you a no-obligation quote. If you want to hire someone else, look up “Search Engine Optimization” or “SEO” on google. You will find many companies out there that do this. Be wary - some charge ridiculously high prices.

And guess what? People click the “email me” links in my ebooks and contact me. The message above has only gone out to about 100 people. However, four pople have clicked the link and three have hired me to do Search Engine Optimization on their site. Not bad! The net result? $1200 in my pocket and more on the way…

You can use Constant Contact FREE for 60 days. You do not even need to give them your credit card information. If you find the service useful, you can keep it for a very low price. I am currently paying $15 per month. If you are interested, take a look at Constant Contact now.
