Blogging success story
My wife is a photographer (see her website at http://www.steffanieohanlon.com) and has an advisor/friend (Mary Virginia Swanson) who is one of the top photography marketing experts. When Mary Virginia is in town (we live in Santa Fe and this is a major photography center), she and I talk about our respective careers and how to free up more of our time and do more effective marketing.
On her last visit, I suggested she set up a blog. She told me she didn’t have much time, but I told her I could show her how to get set up in a few minutes and begin blogging. She was skeptical, but decided to take me up on my offer. We set it up in a few minutes and then she had to run to catch a plane back home.
Well, she began and now, one month later, she just wrote to thank me and Steffanie for getting her going and reporting that she has 2500+ visitors already. (You can help move it towards 2600 by visiting http://marketingphotos.wordpress.com/ ). Yes, 30 days later, she has had 2500+ visitors! Here’s what she says: “I love having a place to share thoughts about art, science, ethics, the value of content, deadlines not to miss, books/magazines to read, etc.” She can do this instantly without having to send out emails (many of which might be blocked by spam filters since they would be mass emails). That is the power of blogs.
This shows me that blogs can be a really great connecting, communicating and marketing tool and they can ramp up pretty quickly. Good for you, Mary Virginia, for taking the leap. She should be a role model for all of us who have not been moving onto the Internet because we thought it was too difficult.
And that’s what we Web Whisperers are all about: demystifying the web, digital product creation and passive income strategies.
